What can one say about this thread? Each and every contributor brings his or her slant on here. Resulting in an eclectic, entertaining piece.
Look at the varied styles, for example (I could go on for ages, but I’ll name a few.) Blacryder’s camera angles; Mike’s and Ian’s scenic shots. JKelman’s concert pictures; .5 Baked’s shots. All; (those I have not mentioned, my apologies!), who contribute to this magnificent thread, - to all and sundry – well done!! Let me give a humble offering, since the last few shots have had a nightime “abstract” feel. ![]() This was taken, whilst in the passenger seat in a car going home. It was on the motorway. I thought yes! Put the shutter on “b”, and move the camera about. This was the best shot.

Thanks .5 Baked; your second shot reminded me of that one. You are doing the right thing by experimenting.
I’ll say it again, try and get your hands on a version of Photoshop. You could have enhanced the moon on your first shot, (which I really like) or enlarge it even! Again, (sorry, just a suggestion), you could have cropped your second shot, just to show the multiple crosses, in the main, as the picture. Experiment with your cropping, two “L” shaped pieces of card will do the trick, forming rectangles. You could go beyond, and crop to any shape. As I have said on many occasions, “Keep doing the business.”

Was putting some rubbish out this afternoon, and noticed the dustbin lid. With frozen water and leaves etc. Thought, may as well take a shot at the shed window as well.

Pope, Manfred Eicher may be calling you soon to see if he can use these photos on upcoming ECM releases.
Great work!

Tenorman, that sounds like a fun night. I hope you can get your flash off camera. Shutter priority or manual mode once you get low light. I'm looking forward to seeing these sometime next week.
Comments on 1/2 baked pictures - I too really like the night shot with the moon and cross. Well conceived and executed. Pope, these are my favorite two pics of yours. Have you been holding back? |

In a way yes. Some time ago, I looked at my dustbins with a view to a composition, with regard to their shapes. The lighting wasn’t much good, being semi-sheltered as to show any meaningful texture, so I abandoned it as there wasn’t much on offer. Then, I’m putting my rubbish out. Yes! frozen water with the leaves, ice bubbles in the water. – Light OK. Get the camera out, and took some overhead shots of the bin. Some of the whole bin overhead etc. The shot I posted I was happy with; the handle of the bin was at the right angle for the shot. As were the leaves. – Didn’t have to manoeuvre the bin at all. No cropping of the original shot, it didn’t need it. The cropping of the bin, I was happy with it. Looked at the shed window, a bit of frost, some condensation, and mould. Just lined up the shot, happy with the composition, original shot. Happy with both.
