Well, that didn't work. Brian's email address came back as invalid.

Brian discusses the FJI takedown a little over at this speakeasy.jazzcorner.com thread. He seems agreeable to standing it back up if there is enough interest.

It's good to see that Brian's fine, I was a bit worried.

I love the FJI. I've always seen it as an important adjunct to AAJ. Without the Free Jazz Institute, it would have been a hell of a lot more difficult to organize the AAJ Orchestra project. Brian bent over backward for us then.

Brian has always been willing to work with us. At my request, he made an original music section for us to post our own tunes. He created a whole sub-category for the AAJ, and I very much hope that will be utilized again someday.

He's a great guy for whom the music comes first, and as such, he is to be admired and appreciated.

Brian, if you're reading this please know that, even though it may seem that we take FJI for granted, well, I guess we do. Sorry about that. Put it back up anyway, please.

Thanks, JoeB. I wrote him an impassioned plea at that site.

Jay,

I concur completely. The Jay Norem collection resides there.

Write to him on the Forum at Jazz Corner.

Cheers old buddy,
Jer

I would like to say what for me is FJI: the field of the free exchange of musical ideas in the form of notes and sounds, it is much clearer than words, numbers and letters. If such a precious storehouse of ideas disappears, it will be very sad!

I have just posted my reply there. I was finally able to log in at the Jazzcorner after about 3 years. I thought they had banned me for too little contributions, lol. Well AAJ will always be my first love, can't help that.

Hey, sorry I couldn't locate a more recent backup, but there's still quite lot (~3000 uploads) that were recovered. (Sorry about the email Jerry, we moved recently and that stayed with the service provider).

Brian,

You are the greatest.

I'm sorry if it seemed like we weren't paying enough attention to FJI. We had all got to take it so much for granted that perhaps we didn't realize how much it meant to us until it was suddenly gone.

A million thanks. Felix Navidad.

Abrazos,
Jer
