How many of you have had to sell an instrument due to money trouble?

I had to pawn my drums once, along with a TV and something else, can't remember. This was decades ago, and I was in a bad way. I needed cash immediately. And I got my drums back in the end.
There was another time when I had a set of drums that I really didn't want, I'd never liked them and I was feeling the pinch, so I sold them to a drummer I knew very well, in fact I considered him to be a friend. He gave me a part of the payment in cash, then I never heard from him again. His name is Larry Williams, black guy in his early fifties. If you ever see the guy tell him that he's a lousy stinking thief.
