earlier = Art Blakey - The Jazz Messengers
now = The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Their Last Time Out.

Both of these groups were phenomenal.

Does anyone know anything about this album? This is the only picture I could find and there is no information anywhere online or on album. I would like to know the year so I could know the personnel. Thanks.

Basie/Fantail

"Fantail" is a track on the Roulette album "The Atomic Mr. Basie". What you've posted looks like it might be a re-release of that album.

As everyone seems to be listening to this one, I have followed suit (it's been a while since it was in my player last):

Sam Rivers - Fuchsia Swing Song

... and it really is a good one!

Russell Gunn - Ethnomusicology - Volume I

Russell Gunn(born 1971 in Chicago) is an American contemporary Neo-bop jazz musician, known primarily for his trumpet playing and Grammy nominated recording, Ethnomusicology vol. 1. He grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois playing trumpet, and his initial musical interest was hip hop with LL Cool J being his first music idol. His current projects include a large ensemble called Bionic, which just released a ground-breaking record called Krunk Jazz and his smaller group Electrik Butterfly.

*** Is it "contemporary Neo-bop jazz"??? Can't play any track more than 1 minute!! I'll be miles away from this sort of jazz.
