The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. We watch Haven all the time so I decided to read the book it was based on. The show is good and the book was short.

Reading my way through the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. I'm reading Persuader and it's good. I figured these books were written for men but I like them because he doesn't use the F word and Reacher is down to earth about women. He likes them and they like him but he doesn't use them. Not sure why he picked Tom Cruise to play him in the movie. Not what I pictured the 6' 5" 250 lb character as.

I like the Reacher series, too. Haven't read Persuader, but I will.

One for the Books, Joe Queenan. Anybody he reads a lot can relate to this book. Joe didn't get a drivers license til he was in his 50's because he would rather read a book on a bus, train or plane. He is in the middle of reading over 20 books. Doesn't have a kindle, never will. A lot of humor in this book and I can relate to most of his thinking.

POLAR SHIFT - Clive Cussler

I have no idea what it's about after the Prologue and two chapters.
It's exciting as all get out, though.

Het zijn net mensen - Joris Luyendijk

It's a Dutch book. The title means 'They're just like people' in English. It's a report of Joris Luyendijk's five years of working as a commentator in the Middle East for two Dutch newspapers (Volkskrant and NRC Handelsblad) and a Dutch news network (NOS). He talked with protesters and terrorists, taxi drivers and professors, victims and perpetrators and their families. He personally experienced dictatorship, garrison, terrorism and war. The more he saw, the more astonished he became. The gap between what he perceived in reality and what they showed, or rather had to show in newspapers and on television is quite terrifying. In this book, Joris shows how the media give us a filtered, distorted and manipulated view of what happens in the Middle East with compelling examples which are occasionally humourous, but all unbloated reality.

Great book! There's an English version too, if you're interested:

Khrushchev: The Man & His Era - William Taubman
Very interesting -- if you dig Cold War/Russian history, like I do.

Why Jazz Happened, Marc Myers

Not just a history of jazz but the record industry and post WWII influence on musicians.

Just finished "Measuring America" - a most interesting description of the times and the process of surveying the US (beginning with the Ohio Territory).
