Heard David Berkman's group w/Ed Howard and Johnathan Blake, featuring Tom Harrell last night via Smalls live feed.

What an incredibly musical group!

From Private Eye.
This does appeal to my sense of humour.

Woke up an hour "late" this morning, with Michael Jackson's singing Rockin' Robin in my head. It's still there.

This reminds me when watching “University Challenge.” A UK University quiz show, many years ago. Then hosted by Bamber Gascoigne. Some older Brits will know of him.

The quote was:

“i before e except after c; except for words that are weird.”

I am tempted to interject if need be, especially if the perpetrator seems to be smarmy.

English must be one hell of a language to learn: so many irregularities and exceptions. Above all else, this keeps pedantry flourishing in our green & pleasant (?) land.

Wind-up merchants, we’ve all met them.
Many moons ago, when I was working in Coventry, UK; There were two Asian colleagues, Mo and Vish.

They were two different types. Mo would be “in your face” type winding up. Fair enough, but his problem was; he could dish it out, but could not take it. I have no sympathy at all for this sort. What goes around comes around, and if he falls foul –tough!

Vish was different, he would use stealth. Until you knew of him, he would gradually wind you up. I got on better with Vish, than I did with Mo.

There was a time when Mo was on the phone, and I pretended I wasn’t sure of whom he was. Subsequently I stated he (Mo) had treated me fairly, - which was true.
But then I hastened to add that I thought he (Mo). – Fancied himself as a wind up merchant, but was put to shame by Vish; “As the Master teaching the pupil.”
I knew full well the pair din't like each other!
Afterwards, Mo would refer to "your mate Vish."

I spoke to Vish, who had in the past wound up Mo to the extent of making him shout “Piss off.” In the office, and hurling a biro at him.
Vish said Mo was easy meat, and absolutely no competition whatsoever. And laughed at “The Master teaching the pupil.”

I have a birthday coming up, but for the past few years I've been trying to just forget about my birthday. It's just that I feel uneasy thinking about my mother that way.

I don't understand what you mean. Take my word, mothers don't mind.
