Thanks to those who have already entered and even voted, I hope that more will join. These efforts may expand awarenes about the possibilities and the value of the instrument at least in this geographical area ...

Hi all! I am writing to you concerning the assessment of my video clips with melodica for a jazz competition in Odessa:
http://master-jam.com/en/participant...lodica-israel/ This time you click on one from the stars below the video clip image . The highest estimate is given star on right (5), the lowest - the left (1). With your help, melodica can break into the final, and who knows, maybe this instrument will take its rightful place in jazz and general musical education !

I can't say that I'm enamored of the sound of the melodica, but your "outside" playing on it is certainly unique. |

On the way, creates new ideas about the improvement of the tools, which debated with fabricator Hohner. If melodica becomes massive instrument in musical education (which is quite possible), it inevitably will be improved! That's a question I never asked: used whether in general melodica in the U.S. and Europe for methodical jazz training ?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen - You have only two days of voting - On my page in website of Odessa jazz competition http://master-jam.com/en/piano/
click on the picture . Underneath the picture of video clip has 5 stars, clicking on one of them (the only one) gives an estimate. The left star - the lowest, right - highest. With your help, there is a chance to win!

Wow! Amazing thread to read through. Is you book on sale? I have a Hohner "Performer 37" that I received as a gift. I play off and on, getting really into it when I do play. I also enjoy playing melodica and piano/organ simultaneously, via the "bendy tube." This allows you to keep chords going while playing lead on the melodica. I would love to buy your book.
Also check out my melodica playing on "Black Orpheus." My band did this tune as a tango, and it's quite fun: http://parhelionjazz.bandcamp.com/track/black-orpheus Thank you so much for the info! Keep up then good work!

Kevin, welcome to the forum!
Hohner "Performer 37 - great instrument, but unfortunately I don't have it. I am against the use of melodic as a surrogate for the accordion (it's like driving nails with a microscope) , but wind and percussion instruments. Can you as a drummer noticed that on melodica You can perform different rhythms?

Being a drummer, my rhythm is improved on everything. I think that it really helps my soloing especially, because you can come up with catchy rhythms more easily -- it just "flows" better from your mind to your finertips and your mouth.
