Online record appraisal services?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, looks like I have a lot of reading to do. I've seen some posting referring to record appraisal services, but none of the postings that I've seen mention any by name - can anyone recommend one?

The main reason I'm asking - a friend has a collection of records - a good mix of jazz and classical - but the one that intrigued me is a 3 disc set of 78 RPM records ('Louis Armstrong All Stars with Jack Teagarden', 1947) that has been autographed by Louis Armstrong and his band from a 1952 tour. The autographs include Louis, Cozy Cole, Earl Hines, Barney Bigard and Velma Middleton. It appears to be the record being signed in this photo:

(the record has an 8x10" glossy of the above pic tucked in the sleeve)

Interest is mainly for insurance purposes... He has no plans of putting it on the market anytime soon, at least not that I'm aware of.

First of all check out what an Armstrong signature is worth.

You need to check that it is a signature and not an overprint on a photo, which would be worth next to nothing

There isn't a huge market in 78s so getting a price will be difficult.
