Bunch of transcriptions from a new member!
Hi everyone,
I'm a guitarist in Austin, TX by the name of Matt Wampler. I've got my own website - www.mattwampler.com - where I post transcriptions every Wednesday with a focus on guitar, but not exclusively. I didn't know the AAJ forum existed until someone (fep) over at the jazz guitar forum suggested that I post here. Well, it's good meet everyone and expect to see me around occasionally. I'll give links to some of my favorite posts. Be sure to look around and maybe you'll find something inspiring. I'm also always looking for great songs and solos to transcribe, so suggest your favorites! John Pizzarelli Oscar Peterson Clark Terry George Benson Wes Montgomery Lots of Bassists as well Take care ! MW |

Wow, thank you!!
![]() The Oscar Peterson will be especially valuable to me, and will for sure check out the others. Transcriptions are not my strength (I've only done one, Max Roach's drum solo on "St. Thomas"), and these will help me out. Also -- Welcome, fellow noob.

Wow!!! Outstanding. Thank you. I love how John Pizzarelli gets "Twisted" on "Route 66".

Hi Ypmid,
welcome to the AAJ forums. It is very generous of you to share your transcriptions. Thank you, there will be a lot of members very interested in these I imagine. I use a few transcriptions of the work of Barney Kessel myself from the album he did with Julie London. They used to be online but I can't seem to find those anymore. I'm interested in any transcriptions that were made of duets with the famous singers. Joe Pass f.e. did work with Ella I'd love to see transcriptions of. I've noticed that you transcribed work of Jimmy Raney. You might be interested in the fact one of his sons is a member here. Jon, who is a wonderful pianist himself, has a website tributed to the Raney legacy including work of his father and brother Doug. I know he would be interested to see any of your transcriptions of his fathers work and would be happy to discuss things too. |

Thanks for your interest everyone!
@page: Ooh, thanks for reminding me about Barney and Julie! The closest thing I have for duets is Joe Pass and J.J. Johnson. It's just the solo for now, but I plan on releasing Joe's rhythm playing some day. |

It's refreshing when a new member comes along with something to contribute from the gitgo. Hope to hear more from you. Cheers, Jer |
