Hot new jazz singer =)

As a huge fan of Frank Sinatra myself, we all know that he can never be replaced. But while I was interning at Universal, I was exposed to this talented young singer named Matt Dusk who has what it takes to give even Frank a run for his money! His voice is being compared to Ol’ Blue Eyes himself… it’s classic and smooth but with a modern twist! If you don’t believe me, check him out for yourself at his website: www.mattdusk.com. And for you ladies, check out his photo gallery while you’re there. He’s got Frank’s good looks too! Also, you can sign up for his online street team at www.ufanz.com/teams/mattdusk for cool prizes and news updates, etc.! Let me know what you think of him!!!

A timbre like Sinatra doesn't make a jazz singer.

This music has nothing to do with jazz. It's unspontaneous, commercial, stylized pop with the intent to make money and to become famous.

Even if it's competently sung and played, it's not creative at all, has no detectable amount of improvisation and has no distinct personality. So it in NO WAY qualifies as jazz.

And the video with the fake jazz band (while a bland pop arrangement with completely different instrumentation is heard) is ridiculous.

Best Wishes,
Monk

Cool ouch...

My knowledge of jazz instrumentation can not compare to yours, I'm sure, but that is why I did not address it in my post. See, to me, this is good music. As for strictly making this music for fame and glory, considering he has been studying since a really young age (I don't remember exactly how old) at music schools, he has shown a great amount of dedication to the art of singing. And for that, don't you think he deserves his shot at fame?

Of course he deserves his shot at fame. Anyone does who is prepared to work at it.

We get a small number of first time posters on the site who jump in with a recommendation for an artist, without getting the feel of the site first. Some of these posters are employees of a record or publicity company and others are friends of the artist trying to get some publicity for them.

A number of us, and I include myself in this, get annoyed when it is apparent that a large record company is attempting to get free publicity on a bulletin board such as this. I would emphasise that these are my opinions here (and perhaps a few others) They should not in any way be assumed to be those of the operators of this site.

Perhaps a few general posts first and then a "Has anyone heard .....?? might get a smoother reaction.

I haven't listened to the artist, not being a fan of many male Jazz singers, and also my aging NT4 set-up has lost the ability to make a sound of any description

My lady thinks he has good looks and nothing to tell musically (just like I think about Britney Spears).
