Eccentric is right, his midnight chats with monocle firmly in place, are the stuff of legend. Even current shows appear to have been made in his living room.

In todays television - obsessed as it is with youthful good looks - this guy wouldn't be allowed to work a camera. But back in the day having a keen intelligence and a genial nature wasn't seen as a hindrance.

Yep. The good ole days of television that wasn't so concerned with superficial looks.

My mind has been blown over the last few days as i only knew of Sir Patrick Moore from the old The GamesMaster TV show and magazine from the early nineties:



Reading about his history has been a revelation. RIP.
