policy question about referencing other sites

I have recently launched a website, and I feel that it would be of interest to members of the AAJ community. While the site is not dedicated to jazz artists, the inaugural issue features a noted jazz musician and jazz will have a predominant place.

I would like to announce the site on AAJ, but I also do not want to offend anybody or violate any policy regarding promoting other websites. The site is http://www.musicConstellation.com -- If you could clarify for me if it is okay to make a general announcement and what thread would be most appropriate.

Thanks.

From the one of the posts above

Quote:
We don't really have a problem with your advertising your Jazz Blog on our Bulletin Board, but with the increasing numbers of people doing so, we need some guidelines

If you are advertising your Blog here, we expect similar exposure on your Blog

We expect you, as a member, to take active part in the forum, and not just advertise your blog.

Where you have started a thread about your Blog, all future updates should be in that thread and not in new threads
If all you want to do is to advertise one edition or article and then disappear, then I'd rather you didn't. If, however we can come to some sort of mutual arrangement regarding exposure of the respective sites, then that may be good for both you and AAJ.

BTW thank you for asking

Just to emphasise a point

When you register and reply to the e-mail that is sent to you, your application is then passed to the moderators on the Board. This has become a necessary step. Even today, when we have taken all possible steps to ensure that there is a person behind the application and not an automated computer program, over 50% of the applications are known spammers, and are removed before they can deposit their garbage on our site.

This unfortunately that does mean that there will be a delay between your registration, and your being allowed to post, but, it is either this or a bulletin board being swamped by spammers.

The moderators are all volunteers and part time. It can therefore be 24 hours (or more depending on our personal commitments) before we approve your application.

We pride ourselves on being spam free, and with one exception a short time ago, we have been. I hope you will understand why there is this delay

Discussions about individuals

It is considered bad netiquette to post the contents of private conversations - Private Messages, Emails, Facebook, etc - on a public forum. AAJ reserves the right to remove such posts without notice and to close or delete any thread based on them.

It's ok to talk about folks; it's not ok, when talking about them, to include the contents of private communications, which those folks would have reasonably expected to only be between them.

There are a small but persistent number of users who have not replied to the e-mail that the BB sends to get confirmation of the new registration e-mail address, and are still trying to post on the BB

You cannot post on the Bulletin Board until you have replied to that e-mail and your registration has been transferred to the moderators for approval, and the registration is approved

You will receive an e-mail telling you that your registration has been approved. Only then can you post

OK, I posted the above in October -- I have just counted over 50 guests trying to post (gave up after 50 and there were still a couple of pages to go)

You cannot post to this Bulletin Board unless you have registered, replied to the e-mail that the site sends to you, and been accepted by the moderators

I don't think it will make any difference -- just had to get it off my chest

BUMP

More in forlorn wishful thinking, than any expectation that it will do any good
