Very cool! Man, I'd love to see more of those animated chord diagrams for other jazz tunes.

Yea, me too. It's very helpful to have a visual like that.

Can someone please explain to me how this animated diagram should be helpful??? I don't understand! (By the way, I'm a professional jazz pianist who can play "Giant Steps" quite good.)
Example: Why is the II (C#m7, Fm7, Am7) TWO times in the diagram for each tonality? And not the V? And how does the diagram help one to understand "Giant Steps" better? In my opinion it would suffice to write: "We have 3 tonal centers, B, Eb and G. In 'Giant Steps', each time we have reached the I chord of one of the centers, we immediately go on to the next (in a certain order). This can be achieved by just playing the V of the next tonality (like in the first 3 bars) or by playing a II-V." That's really ALL theory one needs to know! The piece is only difficult because 1) it's unfamiliar that consecutive tonal centers are a third apart; 2) the piece is fast, 3) some people find B a hard key because it doesn't occur often. Best Wishes, Monk
