The Festival’s incredible lineup embodies the spirit of nu-jazz, which is bringing jazz into a modern context by blending this essential improvisation-based art form with other contemporary styles. International headliners include Billy Martin (of legendary jazz-jam trio Medeski Martin & Wood) & Wil Blades Duo (Nov 17, Great Hall) and the astonishing 9-piece Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, returning once again to Toronto (Nov 23, Opera House) in support of the new album Kelan Philip Cohran & The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble which features the music of their father, Phil Cohran of Sun Ra Arkestra fame. Other highlights include: San Francisco mushroom jazz DJ legend Mark Farina, primordial Toronto jazz-funk ensemble The Shuffle Demons, jazztronica innovators Chameleon Project, Minneapolis DJ/multiinstrumentalist vocalist Chuck Love, and Montreal DJ Collective Jazz Amnesty Sound System.
