newbie here
i'm gary. i play keyboard, basically i play the synthesizer. i am classically trained but i love jazz and am trying to become a jazz synthesizer player, which is pretty unusual. i know herbie hancock and chick corea played synthesizer, and that's the style of music i like. not the old charlie aprker style. i wnat to learn to improvise better, especially at fast tempos. i can read music very well but the iprovising part is tricky. any keyboeard players out there with any suggestions?

Also, I will be making available the Genius Guide to Jazz Starter Kit. It will include:
It will be available from AAJ's online convenience store, J-Mart, in the Overpriced Staples section, or by burying $49.95 in a mayonnaise jar in your back yard and wishing for the Magic Jazz Fairy to come.

Building the Jazz Library
Thanks for this info....there is so much to read. I kind of went about it differently. My favortite artist is John Coltrane..( like everyone else)... but i kinda just bought a lot of His stuff (the early stuff)... and then i kinda figured out that he wasnt by himself...so that led me to McCoy Tyner, etc.....
I have done this with others also. I guess there is a sound that i like, and then i follow the ones who make it.... I want to be more technical, but so far i like what i like... does anyone have any suggestions as to how to become more technical? please let me know...mcarthurcato1@yahoo.com |
