Help! I have a Question...

I know that one of you can answer this easily. I am just starting to listen to jazz, but there was a song......by coltrane I think that was used in a car commercial a few years ago. I can't remember if it was cadillac or some other luxery car, but the song is very popular. Any jazz buff could tell me what it was. Does anyone know?

not certain about this but here goes: my assumption is that you're thinking of the Mingus tune that i think was used for a car commercial (don't remember the commercial at all) - i seem to remember it being "Haitian Fight Song." i think that's right. not sure...

anything that gets someone listening to Mingus has something positive going for it (that being mainly Mingus

Mingus' "Haitian Fight Song" was used on a Volkswagen commercial a few years ago. The Mingus site has the audio clip: http://www.mingusmingusmingus.com/Film/film_tv.html

The luxury car ad you may be thinking of was the 1997 Infiniti ad with actor Jonathan Pryce which used Dave Brubeck's "Take Five". It used to be posted on the clipland site, but not anymore, I guess.

I remember a commercial with a silver car, maybe a lexus. Why are they all silver now? Anyway, the music was Take Five performed by Dave Brubeck. I've linked a short clip of it. It might jog the ol' noodle for ya.
