Female Jazz critics, writers, reviewers & Who was Amy Lee?

I am only aware if a few and all of them from the 'olden days'.

Helen Oakley
Marian McPartland - (in that capacity)
and....Hmmmm..I dunno.

Who was Amy Lee?

i have seen her name in Metronome Magazine. I have never read anything of her in later years.

Sometimes the female POV is different...and sometimes you have some good writers.

You'll have to go a long way to find a critic as absorbing as Val Wilmer.

Lee Jeske is also ( I understand?) a classical guitarist. I started a thread a few months back on an article she wrote for the New York Post ( Is Jazz History?). She has written for many publications and newspapers, Rollingstone and The Village Voice for two.
I don't know anything more about her, and haven't read any other of her articles other than the above mentioned, so I can't vouch for her credibility or veracity.

A free drink to anyone who tells me something about Amy Lee.

Sidebar - I spoke a few times with one Dorothy (Dottie) Vance, who had been at Victor in the 1940s doing promo and merchandising work. A woman in a very man dominated world.

I always thought that Lee was a he and then there was doubt in my mind. The internet can be both a wonderful and terrible thing.

But then, you can always Google:

Lee Jeske has been writing about music for 20 years. He has worked as an editor for Down Beat and Cash Box, a music critic for the New York Post, and as a freelancer. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, Jazziz and numerous other publications. Lee writes extensively about Brazilian music and has conducted interviews with Antônio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa and many others.

Lee Jeske with Terri Hinte

Thanks Adrian J and Marcello for clearing up my confusion regarding Lee Jeske's sex. Sorry for guiding everyone down the garden path.
When I first found the "Is Jazz History?" article around ten years ago, I simply assumed he was a he. But I did go to the net when I decided to start a thread and some how either got or misread the info. The "classical guitarist" ( I could swear!) was there, too. But that's all moot now. A picture is worth a thousand words. And, if you look closely, you can even read his name on the I.D. card hanging on the lanyard around his neck. No chance of a transposed caption!
