Mostly Other People Do The Killing -- "This Is Our Moosic"

Irreverent, fun, energetic. Good.

Is the name of this band an allusion to a line in a book or movie?

It seems vaguely familiar, but I can't place it.

That's a good question, one I don't know the answer to. They seem to be preoccupied with all things Pennsylvania, so maybe that's a clue?

O.K. Got an answer for us. Tracked it down just now.

And I quote:
The group takes its name from a comment by Leon Theramin [sic], the inventor of the instrument that bears his name, about Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. (“Stalin wasn’t so bad, mostly other people did all the killing.”)

Google is pretty cool. Stalin was not at all cool.

BTW, Theremin's name is spelled with two "e's," not as above. ...Dock that paper 5 points!

And I knew I'd seen the quote somewhere else before. I'm a bit of a Russian history nerd, and I'd stumbled across it in my earlier reading at some point.

This album is a real pleasure.

^ Tim Berne's Hard Cell - Feign

And some classical music (Corelli, Fedele, Scarlatti, van Gilse, Shostakovich, Anderson). It's a wonderful listening evening / night.
