Alright! We're getting started. Salute, lads. Consider yourselves signed up!
I'm going up to eat my dinner now. Tomorrow I'll start putting together the roster.

I would like to play alto and/or flute. I'd be happy to contribute a tune as well.

The most fun I've had all year. Lost weight doing it, too.

If there's anything left of me next year, that part will be there.

Alex: You were indispensable. I can't imagine it without you.

I'm in. It will be an honor.

Can I contribute a chart? I'd like to do a fairly avant kind of thing, but not too difficult.

Scott,

Absolutely.

I think we should do what we did this year: Rather than decide in advance who is going to do what, we should solicit contributions that we then discuss and pick from.

Of course, having said that, I have to admit that the imbalance we saw this year was a result of the shortage of submissions.

I hope we can encourage more people to offer music. Immediately coming to mind are, of course, you, as well as Jake and Phil. And I've seen some terrific music by Jofo, if he's interested.

I'd like to see as much diversity as possible. Jay's suggestion of nine tunes is a good one, but I think it would be great if they were by at least four or five composers.

Cheers,
Jer

couldn't agree more.

i have my own theme song and i hope i can incorporate it into the site. and i'd like to see it remain a part of the repertoire.

Jay

Don't leave me out of the organizational process this time. I'm thinking solely of the room booking(s) for the rehearsal(s) at this point.

Remember that I told you I could have gotten the band a much larger and better air conditioned room for not much more or less that what you paid for at Play Studios?

The studio I am talking about is on the very block where Play Studios is and is in fact called The Studio. I'm a regular there since it's the spot where I rehearse with my musician buddies.

When it comes down to setting dates, let me know what you think. However, you may go to the website and check them out now. The link is here: thestudio.org
Click on where it says "Rehearsal Facility" on your top right.

When you do you will see that they have pictures of all their rooms and rates very nicely organized. Click on the thumbnails of the rooms to see a larger picture. There is a registration process, etc. but we can go over all these minute details if you are pleased with what you see there if you trust my opinion on this one.

I can also, of course, check for other joints around town.

Ian, would The Studio have an interest in bartering studio time for advertising space at the website? We can target just NYC readers and I can plug them (with link and info) in a musician news announcement. Our musician directory includes over 17,000 profiles.

So here's what we've got thus far:

Chris and Scott on trumpet (that's a bad-ass trumpet section!)
Jeff Rzepiela (Scooby) on alto/flute (Jeff, I'll need your email address. Shoot me a PM.)
Alex on piano.
Jake and Pat on guitar.

Six players so far. More, more, we need more.

Mike, what kind of a deal would you be prepared to offer them? Would you consider a straight trade if they were agreeable? I want two consecutive rehearsal nights next year. Let me know and I'll call them.

I'm up for whatever is available.
Will try very hard to at least come hear and jam afterwards.
Can commit to learning any material and can send a record of it, back.

Anyway, I might be living in the NYC by the time next August comes.

Love,
BP

Mike, I'll find out. What do you have in mind? Meaning, how long do you think a period of time is fair to allow them advertising space provided they are interested?

Jay, are you going to take care of it? Either of you guys can call them directly. Ask when can you speak to the manager or owner since the regular employees would of course not be of any help with regard to what you have in mind.

yes. i'll definitely make it worth their while (ad space value will far exceed the cost of rehearsal space)
