The Pat Metheny Interviews

I can't remember the last time I read a book from front to back in one sitting but I couldn't put this one down.( I love the pictures of Pat playing gigs when he was in high school.)
I think this book will end up being looked to in the same way that Effortless Mastery inspires people.

Sounds like a great read!

I might just hint to someone that this would be a great christmas gift for a guitar player... if they happen to know one

An excellent book. My only gripe is that it's too short !

Hopefully there will be another installment because it is a very inspiring read for all musicians not just guitar players.

Thanks for the heads-up. Definitely going on my list of things to get.

I just read through the whole thing. Unfortunately, it IS very short! Took me one hour! My guess is Proust will take me longer...

None the less itīs a great read and great pictures of his early days.

Big Band Pat

Speaking of Pat Metheny, I have been listening to this album quite a bit lately:

http://www.amazon.com/Music-Pat-Meth...1502190&sr=8-1

Bob Curnow's LA Big Band Plays the Music of Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.

We always knew Pat was a virtuoso performer and inventive composer, but I for one was surprised at how well his compositions came across when transferred to the big band format.

Thanks for that link, Jeff. I haven't been aware of this album. From listening to the samples provided by Amazon I'm really intrigued.

It's got some neat stuff on that album, Minuano is espcially nice.
