Need help finding an album or CD?

Ken Dryden wrapped up his column ASK KEN after four great years this month (thanks Ken!). It was quite a stretch and a lot of fun for all involved.

We plan to keep this thread open to anyone who has a question about hard-to-find LPs or CDs. If you're looking for something, post it here. Ken does prowl the board, so who knows; he may answer your question direct.

There is/was a British band called Caravan that has existed in various line-ups since 1968. There are links to The Soft Machine.
Was the one you are taking about definitely German. Some of the Cambridge Set fanatics may know if the UK band did Birdland.

Did Paul Chambers have any albums under his name? I have been looking in music shops whenever I pass them just to check but have never found anything. I obviously have Miles recordings and Trane recordings with him on but I was wondering if he was ever a leader. And if he was, any recommendations for albums.

One album that I like is "Whims of Chambers" which has an allstar lineup:

John Coltrane, Donald, Byrd, Horace Silver, Kenny Burrell, and Philly Joe Jones.

This from Mosaic will give you all his Blue Note sessions as a leader

I have that. I am looking for another song. It was a BET sampler. Charlie Parker, Mingus and Monk were on it.

I have a CD copy of "Bass on Top," which is considered his best album, in excellent condition. I'm willing to trade or sell it to you. Let me know if you want to make a deal.

I'm looking for these hard-to-find CDs:

Wildflowers 5: The Complete NY Jazz Loft Sessions - Various Artists
Symphony For Improvisers - Don Cherry
Birth & Rebirth - Anthony Braxton/Max Roach
Streams - Sam Rivers

Hey ya'll, just wanted to give an update on my quest for this rare lp. After searching an eternity, it finally popped up on ol' trusty ebay. This lp i've seen before sell for around 40-60 dollars on various sites including ebay, but guess how much I was able to get it for........$3.00. I can't believe it!!! Anyway let me head over to paypal so I can pay for it. Peace Out.

The fellow you bought from has a perfect rating, no complaints, so it looks like you did good! Great for you!

I've purchased some things on eBay, CD's and vinyl's and they've been what they've represented them as, and people I've bought from have even thrown in things and sent more than I purchased, so how very nice is that?

Does anyone know which Johnny Hodges CD('s) have the following?

1. "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" (live version, and not the medley with Black and Tan Fantasy)

2. "Not so D...." ( Here 's the story, I heard this on radio. I'm sure the announcer didn't say "Dukish" it sounded something like "Doobie-ah" or "Doobie-ya" or even "Dubya")
