Great game! It would take me forever to get the exact song from that 2 or 3 second clip. I took a wild guess (sounds like the pianist for Billie Holiday).
Looking forward to new Name That Tune games. Perhaps you could give us a little more of a hint (longer clip, 10 seconds maybe). Cheers! |

Kind of a narrow poll. Had I the choice I would have voted for Tatum. My second choice would have been Hines, then Monk, then Bud Powell. But there are dozens of others. Real innovators. What about Tristano? Jess Stacey? Sir Charles Thompson? McCoy Tyner? Bill Evans? and on and on.

I’m not sure I understand, gabegabrielsky. There is only one correct answer, are you suggesting there should be more than four erroneous names to choose from? If so, what’s the advantage?

As I hear it, this can only be Count Basie. Why? That swing thing he always kept going on. Teddy Wilson had a similar sense of swing, but he always came up with many more notes. The economy of notes leads me to say it has to be the Count.

I used the same reasoning as forjazzsake (that bounce, gotta be Basie, right?) but the more I think about it, the less sure I am... with a sample that brief, it could easily be Teddy or even a ringer.
Good game, Mike! |
